From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
