PSG Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to take a shock lead. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the final seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
